Aft there is a wide walkway across the boat and the large platform is ideal for divers with steps down for easy water access. A water maker on board supplies you with fresh water every day.
The boat sails incredibly well and is very stable. It is also equipped with electronics and high powered engines, giving great performance and reliability under power as well as sail. As a sailing boat, the average speed under power is about 8 knots, which gives you plenty of time to enjoy the scenery and fresh air while cruising, and the incredible contrasted colors of the mountains and sea.
Sample Trip Itinerary
Expedition Day 1Arrive in La Paz, Mexico
Take a taxi to the marina, where you will meet the dive master. The night will be spent dockside on board the Mechudo. (No meals)
Expedition Days 2 to 6Diving in the Sea of Cortez (Gulf of California)
Declared a UNESCO World Heritage Site in 2005, it ranks as the second most diverse marine body in the world. One-third of all the world’s whale and dolphin species either live or migrate here. During 5 and half days, our experienced crew will take you to the best dive sites, schedule permitting, normally doing two to three dives per day. The daily itinerary depends on the group’s experience, weather conditions, dive master & captain criteria, wishes of the group and other variables. (B/L/D daily)
Expedition Days 7Return to La Paz
After a morning dive, we will return to La Paz, having lunch en route, and transfer to your hotel. Time at leisure to relax or explore La Paz, with its many shops and restaurants. (B/L)
Expedition Day 8Departure
There are taxis available 24 hours a day in front of the hotel for service to the La Paz airport. The cost of a taxi from the hotel to the airport is approximately $25
